My 2 year journey on the land down under

Today marks my 2 year journey on the land down under. Throughout these 2 years of whimsical wanderings, of ebbs and flows, of adventures and misadventures, I have encountered so many amazing souls and learned various life lessons. I guess it’s time to officially bring this beautiful chapter to an end and make space for the kinda new one.

Here are a few moments that’ve just popped up in my mind when I’m writing this…

Hitchhiking (twice) with P. on Straddie Island because we missed the last bus to get back to the boat ramp. It turned out the person giving us a ride and P. know each other. It’s indeed a small world we live in. My lesson is “the Universe always has a better plan”

Forming my first music band 😂. I was the ukulelist and Clovis was the main vocal. We performed Riptide in front of our 2 lovely neighbours who are amazing musicians. I was so shy and refused to participate but Clovis’ enthusiasm always wins. I learned from little 9-year-old Clovis that life is too short to not have fun.

Climbing over a sand dune to watch full moon rise from the ocean on a very very cold windy day and getting terribly sick after that. It was totally worth it though.

Camping alone under the moon and the stars, feeling so at peace in the warm embrace of mother Nature.

Having encountered so many beautiful souls and listened to so many beautiful stories that have inspired me to become the person I am today…. the story of Nick who cycled from the Uk to Australia for 2 years, the story of Aunt Marianne driving her motorhome and exploring Australia for 2 years at age 59, the stories of those who walked the Camino with the misadventures in between, the story of Brad raising his beautiful kids by himself while struggling with life after his wife killed in a car accident, and most recently, the story of Aunt Jen whom I met at a Vipassana center embarking on her 2000 km Via Francigenia walk to raise funds for Amparo Advocacy. Aunt Jen is in her 60s. And many other beautiful stories and encounters that I forever keep close to my heart. Thank you!
