About
Hi there, I am Thuy, the soul behind The Path of Mindfulness. After a long journey of self-exploration, I have realized that my life purpose is to be of service to others. As a child, I was a dreamer, an introvert, an observer, a risk-taker, and a loner. I could spend the whole night gazing at the stars, contemplating the magnificence of the universe.
Growing up, I often pondered many questions about life: Who am I? Why am I here? Does my existence matter? Is there life after death? Do I see reality as it is? At times, these questions felt burdensome, preventing me from living in the moment and embracing a simple life. I often thought there was no point in asking them because, deep down, the answers were always there. But eventually, I realized these questions weren’t necessarily meant to be answered. They were, however, meant to guide me, reminding me of the vastness of the universe and the many things I have yet to discover, including myself.
And for some reasons, these very questions led me to the path of self-exploration. A decade ago, I discovered meditation and yoga through my readings and research. My interest grew as I delved into yoga philosophy books and teachings, which later introduced me to breathwork and Ayurveda. After years of self-practice, I began attending meditation classes in Hanoi, Vietnam, and signed up for the Self-Realization Fellowship founded by Paramahansa Yogananda, whose book “Autobiography of a Yogi” is still one of my favorites.
During these years, energy healing also became a major interest of mine, leading me to become a Reiki Master. Driven by a curiosity and passion for personal growth, I also began to educate myself in various healing modalities, including Crystal Healing, Chakra Balancing, and Emotional Freedom Techniques. However, after years of spiritual exploration, I realized that none of these truly resonated with me. I felt overwhelmed by the multitude of spiritual paths and began questioning myself. I felt lost, like I was down a rabbit hole, and the more I explored, the more self-doubt I experienced. It wasn’t until my first experience with Vipassana that I felt at home. For the first time in my life, all my questions felt answered. Since then, Vipassana has been the only spiritual practice I follow. Vipassana is a practice rooted in the compassionate teachings of the Buddha, that offers a direct path to understanding the true nature of reality. Mindfulness is the center of Vipassana Meditation and the key to the whole process. This is not to say that other spiritual paths are not valid. They just don’t resonate with me, at least for now. I believe every one has their own path, and I remain open to all possibilities.
My journey of self-exploration has shown me that serving others gives my life meaning. This realization even led me to pursue a Master of Social Work degree and create The Mindfulness Circle Project. This project allows me to practice mindfulness, loving-kindness, and “dana,” a Buddhist practice of generosity, openness, and embracing others with compassion and love.
